About Fantastic Fives

After 16 years of recognition as a Local Best preschool, we are grateful and honored to be named the #1 preschool in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for the fifth year running. Fantastic fives is designed to give children who are age-eligible for kindergarten another year to refine academic, social, emotional, or fine/gross motor skills before moving on to elementary school. Through thematic project-based instruction, fantastic fives will strengthen your child’s:

  • social and emotional skills through free play time and group activities

  • fine and gross motor skills by drawing, tracing, cutting, pasting, writing, and participating in indoor/outdoor recess

  • academics by learning to identify letters, numbers and sounds, exploring syllables and rhyming words, conducting experiments, and sorting objects by color, size, shape and quantity

  • critical thinking skills through creative STEM-based activities

  • independence by learning to take responsibility for belongings and gearing up for recess during the winter months

  • communication + comprehension skills by speaking understandably in complete sentences and learning to tell stories based on pictures/images

  • focus + self-control by listening to stories without interruption, recognizing authority, and following directions

ENROLLMENT OPTIONS

While full-time students receive admission preference, we offer flexible scheduling options for children ages three and up. When you apply, you have the option to indicate your preference for a half-day (8:00—11:15 a.m.) or full-day (8:00 a.m.—3:30 p.m.) fantastic fives schedule. Because fantastic fives takes a weeklong approach to preparing children for 5 full days of learning in kindergarten, families are encouraged to register for a minimum of 5 half days per week.

BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL CARE

To accommodate the schedules of families who need child care outside of school hours, we offer a before & after school program from 7:00-8:00 a.m and 3:30-6:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. Your child gets checked in and out of the program on a computer, and an hourly rate applies only when your child is present in the program.

DROP-IN OPTIONS

Our drop-in program is designed to help you accommodate unforeseen childcare needs. Once the school year begins, simply check with your teacher, our early childhood director, or our admissions director to see which days and times we are able to accommodate drop-in students. To use the service, call 24 hours prior to your desired drop off time to confirm that we have an opening for your child. Participating children must be enrolled in preschool at Sioux Falls Lutheran School.

What families are saying:

“Our son comes home every single day full—full of stories, excitement, knowledge, adventure, songs, and a growing love for Jesus. What a gift! He has learned his letters, met new friends, become a Bible story expert, and wants us to share EVERYTHING with Mrs. Olson… There doesn't seem to be a thank you big enough for your work.” –Erica, Fantastic Fives Parent

“The teachers and staff are outstanding. They go above and beyond to help my active kid adjust to school life. The new building is also a blessing, and the pricing is reasonable.” –Carla, SFLS Parent

“The best thing about SFLS is the ‘culture of service’ imbued by the staff. Everyone is always incredibly helpful. I love that my daughter observes this everyday! By walking into your building, she is learning that people should always help each other, however they can!” –Carey, SFLS Parent

“The things we like most about SFLS are the communication, the flexibility of scheduling, the warm welcomes, and feeling like we're part of a family community.” –Karrie & Andy, SFLS Parents
